Advice sought please...Last week I removed our our bathroom radiator and fitted on to the pipes, a heated towel rail. Made a good job of it felt really pleased!
Had to drain down the radiators, fitted towel rail, then re-filled the system + inhibitor.
Started central heating and bleed radiators but over the last few days has continually made dull rumbling knocking noises seemingly also when the hot waters on
Now woke up this morning no hot water - Suprema 50 flashing red, do a restart and after about two minutes and some noise, trips out red again.
Radiators are all full and do not need bleeding.
So the question is obviously what's happening but also why is the hot water affected when I touched was the central heating - thought there were separate?
Any advice from anyone will be greatly appreciated

do you still have heating and no there not

as it uses heating water to heat up the hot water coil

Hi,no just tried central heating, exactly the same, runs for about two minutes then is almighty airlockly bubbling type of sounds almost as if there is no water in the system then it cuts off
If this is an airlock - and ounds like to me 99% it is....how do you get rid of it

You have an old boiler thats susceptible to all sorts of problems, airlock is just one possibility. This is why getting a professional is always better you can rely on them to do the job AND to make sure everything is working tick tock. Chances are you'l end up dishing out more money than you would have done otherwise.

Im pretty sure you have a problem with sludge or ch pump not an airlock, in most airlockes dont cause an overheat trip they just prevent certain radiators from getting hot

but if theres not much water in the boiler / no flow due to air trapped

When refilling a system with zone valves its always best to manually open your zone valves just before refilling , once the systems been aired off at rads and hw coil then the pump needs bled , if these are adhered to then all should be fine unless its been piped badly underfloors etc and bad for airlocks,
The hot water is affected because its the radiator water that indirectly heats the hot water through a coil in the hot water tank , if its a fully pumped system then youl find a airing point at the top of the coil ( next to hot water tank )
