All toilets in house running continuously after fitting new bath

Hi


I had a new bath fitted yesterday by a plumber. Obviously we shut off the water supply at the stop tap while doing the job. Once installed I turned the supply back on.


Ever since doing so, both toilets in the house (on different floors) are continuously running. It's not gushing or anything but there's just a continuous trickle into the bowl. This only stops once I close off the water supply inlet on the toilet.


I've tried turning the main stop tap back a bit as I thought I might have opened it a bit far when turning the water back on. I've also drained the two toilets and refilled them. Nothing has changed. Both continue to trickle.


Any idea what would be causing this and how I could fix it?

Muck in the float valve stopping them from closing properly. Can you post a pic of the valve and we'll tell you how to clean it out.

agree with howsie, when you have isolated the main and turned it back on again its probably moved some crap into the fill valve

ive just removed the fill valve and tried to flush out any debris but nothing came out. It's not made any difference in any case.

it will most probably be too far in the fill valve to simply flush out, it will need stripping down and cleaning.

Turn them off at the service valves as a temporary measure. Saves you water and stops it driving you to drink!
