Hi everyone,

I was just hoping that someone could give me a little bit of advice.

We are getting central heating put into our new house. Currently, the house has electric heating, 1 bathroom (electric shower), 1 downstairs toilet, 3 bedrooms. There are 2 adults and (soon to be) 1 child.

We've had some quotes in and the person I've chosen to install has recommended either the Alpha CD25x or the Worcester Greenstar 25si.

Having just moved in and with a baby on the way we are desperate to save some money but the Worcester is about £2-300 extra so not massive in the grand scheme.

Our boiler man says its a tough call. He says the Worcester have a better reputation but the new alphas are also good and he doesn't have much trouble with either. He says that the controls on the Worcester are more complicated which gives more control but leave more to go wrong and makes repairs more expensive.

So does anyone have any opinions on these two? My knowledge is very limited so any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Matt

Think your installer is talking sense, however think the Worcester pips it for me, extra cost is nothing compared to life of boiler, parts are about the same but both very reliable

Worcester for me also. Not a fan of Alphas.Might be because I dont see many of them down here, but the ones I do see are terrible!

Hi both - many thanks for the replies.

Grahamgas, when you say terrible, what do you mean? are they always breaking or just not working well?

Also, my plumber says that the news ones are great so maybe you've only had experience of the older models? have you had any bad experience with the CDX range?

again - thanks for the advise on this...
