Hi

Recently purchased a new property which has two worcester boilers, neither of which seem to work. I called a local plumbing company who said that in order to save me money they would repair one boiler with parts from the second boiler leaving me with one functioning boiler, which I was happy with. I told them that I basically needed the boiler to work so that the heating and hot water would work. They called worcester and found out what the error code meant and then told me that they could not use the parts from teh second boiler so I said to just get new parts then, which they did. After they had left the radiators would not warm up and the water did not heat up, apart from when the immersion heater switch was put on. They came back and bled the system which got the radiators to warm up apart from two. The two that are cold are obviously faulty so I have no problem getting two new radiators but the water still does not warm up. My dilemma is this. When they repaired the boiler they said for me to wait and see if the radiators and water warmed up and if it didn't to call them. They returned when I told them the radiators were cold and they bled the system and told me to wait to see if the water would warm up because this could take some time. The water still did not warm up so I asked them to come back and fix it but they are now refusing to come back saying that they had been asked to fix the boiler which they did as the boiler now comes on but it is not their responsibility if the boiler does not warm the water. Could somebody advise me whether this is correct. If you ask a plumbing company to repair your boiler would the assumption not be that you needed that boiler to work in order that it could produce heat and warm water??

they did what was asked, fix the boiler!
the heating system is another can of worms.

sounds like your property has been vacant for a while and the system/valves are all sludged up!

boiler and heating system was repaired though just the hot water part of the system was not fixed so surely if the boiler is fixed and the radiators are fixed then why is the hot water not fixed

There is a lot more controls to make the hot water work then just putting the boiler on your problem could well be elsewhere as well ,as croppie asked what models are they

If you want my opinion -

The whole situation sounds dodgy.

The plumbing company doesn't sound like they know what they are doing.
- Remove parts from one boiler to get the other one going.
- didn't bleed radiators on first visit - had to come back to do this.

Sounds like they have made no attempt at all to get your heating system operational.
As for saying to wait for the hot water to come through - did they not have 15 minutes spare?

Find someone else - post for someone on here.
There is a section somewhere - or someone will post a link.

If it was me I would of checked everything before leaving only takes 10-15mins

Sounds like a big property and are both boilers fixed and working because the cylinder will be off one of them unless there connected together (cascade) and maybe that's why you have no hot water

yer, it was late night reply!lol
sounds like they got the boiler going and thought that was that!

think there needs to be a system investigation as to what does what.

You are not expecting too much you asked them to fix your heating and hot water issue and they haven't. It sounds like the system is a little too complex for them and they don't want anything to do with it any more. You would be best off getting someone else in to take a look.

Get someone else in. Poor customer service and it sounds like they are out of their depth anyway.

before everyone starts jumping on the band wagon, lets slow things down. company turned up, obviously doesnt know worcester boilers but tried to fix by cheapest method, rob one to repair the other, but this wasnt possible. Now the heating or HW doesnt work, but that is another issue and without being on scene you cant really answer or debate what the issues are. However the company obviously doesnt want any more hassle or has admitted defeat at this stage, but the boiler is working so plus points there. Now you really need to get another company in to investigate and resolve the overall issue with the heating system which may be a poor design or sludged up or generally buggered, which may be why company one just walked away, time to get one of our welsh friends in.

You asked them to fix boiler. Boiler now working. Rads now running, apart from 2 but that could be any number of reasons, but no hot water. Seperate issue. 3 port, 2 port, cylinder stat, programmer, etc etc. Maybe the guys who fixed the boiler only do that.

Personally for me it would be boiler fixed but had to bleed system and repairs to xyz on hot water side. But thats extra.

Plus on the other side of the coin, were you a decent customer or a nightmare?

It's a little 50/50 and hard to tell without the full picture but
The boilers are now working

the other issues/faults could be any number of reasons
sounds like you needed to ask them back to look at why the rads/hot water was not working as a separate job although by the customer service you've recived I would get someone else in
