it looks good....suppose proof is in the pudding though,it just seems like it's quicker and easier to fill in a normal form!

I was looking for the Mears heatsmart programme and stumbled across this and thought it was a good idea and you get heatsmart free so its not as expensive when you take into account heatsmart is £95.

easier to just fill gas cert ,a lot cheaper, this gizmo looks good, until it gets bashed, breaks down,or nicked

so that will be another £10 on the fee to cover equiptment and consumables then,
or 10p for a biro?.
its ok if the competition charge more for their services than if you use these tools and charge for covering the cost.

Ok guys i hear you but after the initial cost would it not work out cheaper than getting personalised cp12's (with your own logo). With the amtech i would just need paper and ink for the printer (the missus gets paper for nowt)??

cant see the point in personlized cp12s,get to plumbfix £3.50 for 50 pad

Problem with this payney, is it only works on PC and pocket PC. I want it for iphone and mac.

I have the pc mark, would just have to get the pda ( don't think it would work in my blackberry). I just thought it was quite a professional way of working for not a lot of money.

Ive used PDA's for years and to be fair you can pick them up realy cheap on ebay. But since converting to mac and iphone, i think this software would work amazing on this platform. Im sure it would be even better on the much hyped and rumored islate that will be coming soon. I think if i was still using PC i would think about running this software with a netbook.

Being a Mac head myself, I'm always on the look out for stuff. Commusoft (as above link) has an iPhone app for doing CP12s, but it's a part of their system, so you have to rent the other bits too (ie, customer management, service reminders, etc).

I work in social housing, so I come at this from a slightly different angle than most engineers in business. At work, we are PC so I've coded a custom Access database to deal with servicing, plant and customer management--the beauty being thanks to VPNs, I'm able to run the PC apps on my Mac at home.

That being said, if I were to swap over to being a traditional engineer I would buy something like Bento or Filemaker which are Mac databases and code up something that matched the way I did business. Dunno if I could code LGSRs into it (ie fill it out on the go on an iPhone or iPad), but I'd give it a jolly good try!

James Green and J Morjaria

Do you both work for Commusoft? You both have appeared from nowhere and brought it up on the same day. Random coincidence?

It does look good, but personally I feel the false representations of people like jamesgreen who 'has a mate who uses commusoft' is a little disingenuous. If you did work for Commusoft JG or JM what might it cost per month for the software and an app with this functionality.

Cheers, CP

I use Easygas from Easycert brilliant, because i can email master direct to Landlords. Easy to use and because its printed it can be read by anyone, regardless how good or bad your writing is

You'd go too all that effort without even looking at whats out there? seems like reinventing the wheel to me, although being able to customise to exactly what you need does have its benefits.

Actually, I've looked at what's out there, including Commusoft (which BTW looks rather swish). However for me, it's about retaining control of how I do business, so yes I would go to that effort.

Has your company considered iPhone/iPad/Android apps for doing LGSRs, independent of your integrated service?

anybody got an app for the iphone or ipad for the gas cert software. i have just got this amtech software and it seems like hard work to me.

i might have thought about it years ago when i was doing a good few but not anymore ,stick with the old pads simple and cheap, plus less legal implications

sounds like too much effort.....pen and pad works fine......no need to carry a printer!!

I had personalised paperwork when I started up on my own and invested a fair bit I seem to recollect.
Customer only interested in price, cheapness and if its a 1k boiler change fitted by S.O.Else heating with blank benchmark and 15mm gas supply etc then thats good too in customers eyes.
Save your dosh.
