Annoying Drip coming from central heating pipes.

When my gas central heating is on, every hour or so I hear a slow sounding drip (like a leaking tap) in the ceiling of my living room round about where the bedroom radiator is situated. It lasts for maybe minute at a time & there is no sign of any moisture coming through the ceiling. Nothing has been nailed/screwed into the floor boards that could have damaged the pipes. Surely if the system was leaking the drip would be constant. My system was completely replaced about 3 years old including all the pipes (previous pipes were copper & new pipes are some kind of flexible white tubing

Do you have to top up the pressure regularly?

Sounds more like pipes rubbing against the joints as they warm up and expand when you put the heating on
If you don't want to pull the floor boards and put some felt/material under the pipe work, let it be a soothing sound to remind you that your heating is still working

Hi there lizmac and welcome along, it may just be the joists creaking if the pipes are against them, or the floor boards ,,,

Same here, expanding pipe-work rubbing against a floorboard or joist.

I checked the level this morning when the system was cold and the gauge is a couple of milimetres off what it was at when it was serviced in December. The engineer said to expect it to drop a little due to evaporation. He did say he had topped it up but said it was only by about a cupful.
