So, new job. New boilers. This week I have done 11 breakdowns, 10 of them fixed no problem. Then I come to number 11 today, and guess what its another Ideal boiler.
Every boiler that has had a serious problem over the past few weeks has been an Ideal, These things are terrible! Then upon calling their technical I get some moody young lad who has no interest in trying to help me find the fault.
Basically, Its an Imax W100, It fires up for a few hours then goes into shutdown and then comes up with an E02 Fault. You reset it, and it fires up no problem again and a few hours later it goes off. Its been doing this for months apparently, the last guy said he got it going but "didnt think he had fixed it", Great effort from him.
So following the manual, I change the ignition electrode. Still no joy, I have made sure its not under-gassed, the burners were cleaned out less than two months ago. Just out of interest I did a quick FGA, and its also burning correctly when it is working.
So I phone the technical, and tell them the next step is changing the control module. "Yes sir thats right, but it wont be that, it is almost never the module" so I then ask him what else could it be and are there any known issues with these boilers to which he says "well I dont do I". I mean seriously?! I understand he cant diagnose the problem in front of me from his telephone, but to come out with that? I just thanked him for his help and left him to it.
So does anyone have any ideas? So far I have
Checked its not undergassed
The burners were cleaned not too long ago
FGA readings are spot on when runnning
changed ignition electrode
Any input would be helpful as these things are very much trying my paitience.
I have never come across an Ideal boiler before, and Im starting to wish I never had!
Thanks,
Ryan.
