Boilerphobe1

Hi

Completely new to this type of forum but desperately need help/advice. I run a large club and the heating is controlled by 2 boilers (gas) The problem we are experiencing is that one half of the club is too warm and the large function room is freezing. In this room we have 9 radiators and we have power flushed them all. 2 rads are always hot, 3 become hot when bled but go cold again after 20 mins. The other 3 we can get nothing out at all. Pipes feeding rads are hot so water is circulating. Does anyone have any suggestions please as to what we should be looking at?

Thanks

Where about is the club, perhaps a member is near to you I think this is a look at, do you have any photos of the boiler plant, we need a lot more info.
Bit like me the boiler system antiquated!!!

There are lots of questions that need answers, just a few;

Has the system as a whole ever worked correctly?
Does it have 1 or 2 pumps, not a twin pump, but individuals?
Does the system have any thermostats or zone valves?
Is it sealed (big red vessel(s) mybe near boilers) or vented, if vented does the header tank have water in it and not dead pigeons?
What size are the pipes feeding the cold rads?

Who powerflushed it?

And more!!

And where is the club, no one ever appears to like including where they are, a member could live next door and you would not know, some problems
can only be fixed with a visit.

Is there enough water in the system or is the cold feed blocked? Don't think you will get an absolute answer on the forum, you will just get more questions. If you say where you are, then someone on the forum could come out and have a look.

"pipes feeding rads are hot so water is circulating" - May not be circulating much if a two pipe system due to dirt in rads or pipe(s) or a faulty or clogged circulating pump or a very unbalanced system. If hot water is getting to a rad valve, it may be just a very slight flow & will just cool in rad straight away.

One pipe , new boilers ( probs two kestons) flowing on wrong direction vents blocked? Old cast rads or single pnl hi low entry off of a 3" iron swept tees 3/4 on rads...... At a guess?

the rads that arent working dont happen to have thermostatic rad valves do they?
TRV sometimes seize, could be as simple as giving them a good whack

Been there seen that got the tshirt
Call out to fault find and was told that both boilers had been working and working well for years, "only last week they'd stopped working" :mad2:

turned out flow and return were going in different directions on each boiler, theres no way this ever worked

I love these jobs , sealed system £££££££ of copper and steel loot. Plus master and slave boiler having a good fight two systems in parallel onto 28mm ! So that's 100kw into 28mm? Works a treat mr brewery paid for it all!

Apparently it's worked perfectly for the last ten years and just gone to pot this last few weeks.
