It's a Thomas Dudley penumatic. Customer said it was iffy from day one and replacements from toilet spares website are very expensive.

Would like to put in fluidmaster. There's a 550mm cable version which should reach the distance the previously installed pneumatic noodles travelled.

But this Duldley valve ends with a short 2 inch outlet with rubber seals on it. Come to think of it, this isn't even threaded. How does the nut fit on? Anyone fitted one of these?

This outlet looks like it pushes inside this flush pipe:

Which is already installed, cut to length etc. Don't know the sizes of these or what they are called but they aren't like the standard flush pipes and are different sizes on each end. Not sure if either is same size as standard size flush pipe?

If the end of flush pipe that connects to pan is same as a standard one then I could just change for standard flush pipe, new cone and fit fluidmaster valve. If not, how would I get the fluidmaster valve to seal inside this type of flush pipe? Or is it just a case of not being able to fit one?

Many Thanks

I think you may have a Dudley Vantage cistern. I don't think those cisterns are compatible with anything else. I bought one of these the other day and it is a doddle to fit. It's about £25 quid but the customer pays the cost. Here's an ebay link for a single flush.

And dual flush

It might be worth speaking to Dudley to confirm before purchasing as they have a couple of Vantage versions. Alternatively fit a new Grohe pneumatic cistern. I rate them.

Hi WaterTight,

It is a Dudley Vantage.

I have had dealings with a few of them on a housing development near me. As Paulplumb says, they are a special fitting and I don't believe any other flush valve will fit. I have always replaced those washers shown in your picture if I have taken the flush pipe out as I had one that leaked after putting it all back together.

Thanks Paul and Paul. Have ordered a like for like replacement.

What's the deal with those flush pipes? Would a normal one with a normal rubber flush seal fit it in the pan? I know the cistern end is fatter.

so basically if a pan uses that flush pipe you have to replace cistern/innards like with like (or euro similars)?

that's annoying

since the pan connecting end of that flush pipe is 1.5" could you not cut a bit off at the end to fit in the pan, fit a multifit coupler and then connect to standard flush pipe and use any cistern/flush valve you want?

That's because t wat when conjoined is a bad word.

Don't worry, we get the gist.
