Hi, I'm looking to go self employed next year, I'm looking for advice on how to gain work within the commercial gas/ heating industry as a subcontractor.

Get a list of all the local firms that do the kind of work you like and knock up an email stating you're a qualified subbie looking for sub contract work, attach a cv and the jobs a gooden. I only do commercial industrial work and I direct sub contract to about 4 different firms and I got all the work that way

try and get on your county council approved contractor list,, when the jobs come out for tender your name will come out with the tenders as an approved contractor and the main contractors have to use people on the approved list..
it may cost a few quid to get approved but it will pay for itself many times over.. most of my work is through hampshire county council approved list
