I'm just wondering if anybody in here has done the F-Gas training? I'm booked on a City & Guilds 2079-11 course in November as I'm branching out into split system heat pumps.
Any info gratefully received (along with the chaser of their choice!!)

have you got safe handling of refrigerants think you need that first or is it part of the course, F gas is next on my list soon as I pass the nightmare 2391!

Its part of the course now apparently. I'm booked on the 5 day course.
I did a little bit of refrigeration work when I was younger but back then it was R12 & R22 stuff. I can fault find on ac units but legally I'm not allowed to touch it, hence the skills updating!

£395+VAT Develop Training. They have places in Glasgow, Linlithgow, Derby & York

that's a good price cheapest I've seen down here was £595 + vat mind you haven't looked for a while must do something soon got a shed load of aircon tools going rusty, not been used since this F-gas nonsense came about

I know a guy who was doing air source stuff and his co sent him on the F gas course. He said it was easy enough (like every other course) but after he got it, it then became part of their job.
1 day 10 rad installs, Daikins with Hydrobox and unvented cylinder were bad enough but adding the gassing them up (and the time it took to do it properly) put them over the top. I think they stuck it for about a month after that and rapped it.

Saying that, at 400 quid it is always another string to your bow.

That's the only reason I'm doing it Tamz, thankfully I wont have any company breathing down my neck telling me to work faster (well maybe the missus).

Won't be a one off. Nothing is for us guys. You see we plumbers are the gift that keeps giving

I'm hoping to start mine next month, I'd better look again, my course is costing north of €5,000 and taking place over three months:oops:

My advice is take them if you can, I heard there is going to be a major grant announced for thermodynamic solar in the UK.

I wonder who spread that rumour, the training providers?

No, it's my job to know these things, kind of useless information in my case as I don't sell in the UK but snippets do get through to me from time to time.

The exact figures haven't been announced yet (even unofficially) however the unofficial word is the UK grant will be very tempting.

Funnily enough I told several people the same thing... albeit from the van with the windows closed..
