I completed my 6129 tech certificate last year by doing a part time evening course at north notts college. I fully intended to complete the NVQ2 when i had enough money and/or if and when an opportunity work in the industry arose.
I am now in the process of taking redundancy from my current job and have been given the opportunity to work with a property development firm to carry out my NVQ2. The firm has been around 10 years and the owner who i would be working with was originally trained in plumbing, without gaining qualifications due to the course folding. The company specialises in bathroom/kithchen re-fits.
I wouldnt be employed by this company as i am only working with them to gain my NVQ.
The college have rejected my application due to the following reasons:
Low success rates by students not employed.
Will required work criteria be carried out.
I am in the process of appealing the decision as i know time is running out. The cost will be my own so i believe i am the one taking all the risk.
Any advice?
Cheers Steve.
