Hi

I'm 21 years old and have completed my Level 2 certificate in Plumbing. I am really wanting to go on to do my NVQ's but am struggling to find a work placement in my area. I have just signed up with JTL for help with this and i have my assessment with them for next week. I live between Skipton and Burnley, is there anyone on here who would be willing to take me on as an apprentice? I'm an extremley hard worker and very competent in installing bathrooms, tiling and other aspects of plumbing and hopefully want to go on to do my Gas qualifications. Any response will be much appreciated as i have sent out countless numbers of CV's but to no avail

Many Thanks
Graham

Anyone? lol I've sent out 109 letters and CV's and still no joy! Looks like i may need a change of career :-(

You may want to approach these people face to face and suggest doing some voluntary work for a week or two, it may get your foot in the door and if youre unemployed and on jsa ask the job centre about work trials. Employers get upto £500
and if youre still there in 26 weeks they get another £500 you still get your jsa and maybe a bit extra under the table - cha ching!!!

I wish I could do voluntary but i've got bills to pay, and there's no way i'm signing on when i've got a job now even though its not what I want to do.

Thanks anyway though.

Still looking, PM me if you know of anyone who may be interested, i'm not just looking for Apprenticeship but general work as plumber/plumbers mate in my area too

Cheers

Graham

Hi Graham, I know this post was from some time ago but Just wondered if you managed to sort anything out? My partner is in the same situation and any advice would be really helpfull. It's such a frustrating time. Migoplumber, do you have any advice for my partner on how to finnish his gas qualifications? He is with this Jobcentre scheme where employers get money for giving him a trail.

i know a lad of 16/17 who sent out over 200 letters of application with pre addresed and stamped envelopes only to recieve 3 back all of which saying theres no work available. His Dad drove him round in a suit for 3 days visiting companies and he never got a start, felt sorry for him.

He refused the full time root thinking it to be a poor second option, he wanted to work and get an apprenticeship, he went into something else, i'd like to think he's doing well

Hi I am 18 years old and just finished doing my NVQ Level 1 at Bolton College. I know it is hard out there to get an apprenticeship but I will be willing to work for a couple of weeks for a local plumber FREE over the summer holidays so I can gain experience to put on my CV. I don't drive at the moment but I am taking lessons. Thanks Sam

Hi,

I'd agree with heinz57, go in person and talk to people. Did you try the apprenticeships UK website?
