I’m at my wits end!

Moved into a flat a month ago. Aqualisa Aquamixa bath tap mixer. Only ran cold from shower despite hot water everywhere else (bath taps, sink taps)

Showerdoc advised new cartridge. Bought (grey ring). Fitted. Didn’t help used original brass screws as new wouldn’t fit.

Megaflo savvy plumber called out. Later appointment made to fit a new combination valve on immersion tank as hot water pressure was too low and cold too high. He came. Fiitted. Shower started mixing but pressure was lower.
Next day it dropped to a trickle.

I text and he advised to open the stop tap more. I did this and had a wonderful hot shower with plenty of pressure. Total relief.

I touched nothing since.

Today, the next day, water pressure is high but NO HOT WATER IN SHOWER!!! Back to square one. I have turned the stop tap down again but this hasn’t helped.

He has advised I open up the stop tap again and switch back to the old, limescale ridden cartridge.
I’m not convinced this will be a fix though.

could it be anything else? I moved in last month so don’t know the history, can’t see the set up under the bath.

This sounds like an unbalanced hot/cold supply issue at the shower valve. It would really help if you can upload a picture of the combination valve on the cylinder including the pipework below it that feeds into the cylinder. We need to ascertain if you have balanced supplies or not.

If your cold supply is higher pressure than the hot supply, you will get the symptoms you describe at the shower and sometimes other mixer type outlets.
