Just got some 25mm floplast fittings and inserts (black) and some 25mm MDPE blue pipe. The problem is the floplast inserts only go in about 10mm into the pipe and are too tight to go further. The MDPE pipe is waven.
I tried white inserts polypipe and they fitted ok. I know you cant mix speedfit pipe with hep fittings etc.. Is there different MDPE pipe for different fitting as in above ground?
Any suggestions appreciated

Never saw black inserts just clear/White
Might need to file them down a bit

Never used a screwfix insert but MDPE is all the same size. Just hammer it in and shove the fitting on.

I think it would kill the moment if you ran out to the van for a tin of silicon spray:uhoh2::smile:

i have used sun bathing oil in the past :rolleyes4: :1eye: did the job :) will not be running to the van in that moment no wway

That's just disgusting. You might as be talking about greasing pigs for the annual run piglet run competitions. Have some decorum. I'm aghast.

Have tried lubricant on insert and just the same even hitting it with a hammer omly gets about another 10mm?
Maybe got a bad batch of inserts??

i have the same problem, can hammer the insert in but then pipe slightly expands and the olive of a compression joint is impossible to slide into place. any tips?

I've had the same problem. Got the insert to within 10mm of being all the way in and nothing would get it any further.

Solution: I ended up taking the insert out (almost as difficult as getting it in!), chopped 10mm off the end of a new one with a pipe slice, slapping on some liquid soap and forcing it back in. If you do this, just remember to put the olive in the right place first (and collar before that) - you've got no chance of getting it on afterwards.

Hope this helps someone as stuck and despairing as I was earlier!

You get 3 different kind's of liners high density, medium density and low density, the one that comes with the fitting is not alway's the suitable one that's why i alway's cut out pipe first before i go to wholesalers then you can try the different density's.
