Hi all.

Just a little thread to see how business is going for you?

Has the emergency budget and an intended hike in vat done any more damage to our trade or had the damage already been done?

Thanks for your time

just had my best two months of the past three years, so it must be getting a bit better.

i need to move to leeds 😎very quite down here,1 plumber i know has made just £80.00 this week with no other jobs on the horizon, glad i do not just do plumbing😎

june was quieter for me than last year, £500 down and thats after seeing Jan - May showing increased income over last year every month, has everyone gone on holiday, I wont be at this rate

Yep - It's slower than usual. Quite gutting. I have work, but it's drip feed rather than mad rush.

I don't really get it either as obviously no rads and valves, infact no heating it's mostly emergencies and a little bathroom during days and emergencies at night . Must admit I am absolutely knackered. knowing my luck probably have the quietest month ever next month.

weve picked up 4 boiler jobs/2 bathrooms/plus some school work.
think its going to be a tough 2 years with gov cutbacks.
not took on a apprentice this year ,trying to keep overheads down

Well lined up I have a thermal store starting tomorrow, and a bathroom next month. Luckilly I also take on building projects - through my brother, and thanks to him I will be decorating next week.

I HATE DECORATING.

Infact I hate all bar plumbing/Heating and electrics. But I need money, and luckilly I'm a good general builder.

I have even quoted for an insurance job to replace the ceiling where i fixed a burst pipe recently, good money horrid job, still the lad on works experience will gain some valuable experience, ie why u dont want to be a general builder, lol

Not had anything for a week. Got 2 jobs through this afternoon, for tomorrow. Its pretty bad.

Got 2 full systems a couple boiler changes and two bathrooms to do next month..

And a hell of lot of work to do on my own house if i get the chance or the motivation...

Not got my apprentice with me ,as he has gone on a "career break" in Ibiza......😱

On site today i attended a site presentation, I was standing outside and having a chat to to somebody who i thought was another contractor. To my surprise this chap was from the big government planning department and to my horror this is what he said, ' There will be no government cash available from the start of the new government therefore housing association funding is now non existing, therefore this government kickstart for new build is now out the window!

We have only survived on the new build due to housing association funding. I predict after going to this meeting today that the building trade is again going to take a very large dip!

Not good news!!!!!!!

drip.... drip ..... drip ..... mad.......nothing ....... mad again. If it wasn't for my maintenance contracts i'd really struggle in the more quiet times.

I've got a few customers who have postponed things for a few months because they've got no money. Join the club I tell em

I generally don't advertise due to the amount of nuisance calls , but thinking about it to get a few more small jobs.

It'll get better folks, keep the faith.

not when it means loads of site work installers falling back to trying to be boiler repair servicing technicians, more new vans on our streets, no offense intended so so😱

they fit the cheapest packs you can buy,i would not entertain fitting them and have told my customers so.😎

Up here it`s...........

FROM £1650 7 rads and Combi boiler, if you want a roomstat that will be another £150.00 TRVS another £150.00 downstairs rads not to be put on "drops" another £300.00, Vertical Flue another £200.00... you get the picture...

They just need to get the foot in the door...........
