Hi some advice really. Just moved to a new small modern 1 bed maisonette that currently has a huge hot tank and shoulder high cold tank in a cupboard between the kitchen and bathroom. When you stand in the bath and lift the shower attachment up all water stops flowing out of it completely. Flow from the bath and bathroom sink taps is terrible. My thought is to get both tanks ripped out and a multipoint water heater fitted which would also free up a large cupboard we could use as a wardrobe. Cold water flow from the kitchen tap on the mains seems very good.

There is space on the kitchen external wall for either of these two models but nothing larger will fit. Prices and specs are different and a little hard to compare. The Ariston seems to be slightly lower performing unit but is cheaper than the Rinnai. I don't want poor shower performace but will be happy with a reasonable flow. I'm not looking for power shower performance.

Please can someone comment on real world performance of both to help me decide. I would post the links to both units but this board wont allow me to, how weird is that!

Thanks, Dave

hi, dont know much about rinnai, but ariston boilers a bit carp imo. why not main medway ?

The Main water heaters look good but are too large for the space available.
The maisonette is heated by quite new decent underfloor heating that has been fitted in the bedroom and lounge. Lcd controllers on the wall etc. it seems to work well so little point replacing it.

so Ariston are not recommended? I am leaning towards the Rinnai as the specs seem to show it can sustain a higher flow rate.

The underfloor heating is electric but the rooms are small and it seems to work well.

Most importantly, is it possible to run a gas supply to your maisonette?

A small unvented cylinder would probably be a better bet and would provide a better flow rate than a multipoint water heater.

Yes, there is gas which is why I would like to fit a gas multipoint heater. So the Rinnai is a better bet than the Ariston from what I am reading.

What do you mean by small unvented cylinder and where would this sit in the kitchen, how big?, and gas heats the water in it? What give the pressure to the shower from this?

like the cylinder you have now but mains fed and pressure

No gas, it's electric.

Anywhere convenient.

Your best bet, my friend, would be to call in a gsr with a G3/unvented ticket to put eyes on and tell you of your best options.

Neither of these could be fitted by you.

Re clylinder, so where would this fit in my kitchen and sounds like it doesn't provide instant water or am I wrong?

I'm not intending to do any of the fitting, just researching what would be the best solution so I am not told a load of ******** :)

That attitude annoys me!

Give up watching the pony you see on telly. There are a few dodgy guys out there. And for every one of them there's a hundred decent ones.

Talk to your friends and family, people in the pub and the local shop. See who they recommend. And get 3 or 4 quotes.

Then decide.

That attitude annoys me

Well, I'm sorry if it does but I don't see why it isn't reasonable for me to become more knowledgeable of the possible solution so I can make a proper decision from the 3 or 4 quotes I will get. Thanks for all the comments so far.

Like I said, get quotes from guys recommended to you, get quotes from them, tell them of your preferences, listen to their recommendations based on their experiences.

And then decide.

You'll get 2 or 3 different opinions on here based on our experiences, for example, I'd recommend Rinnai, but only because I work with them.

Get your quotes then come back and ask for opinions on the appliances you've been quoted for.
