Had conventional boiler and tanks removed last year and new combi fitted and just recently had it serviced but the guy who did it has given me a gas warning notice for at risk as the outside wall meter box has been drilled through for the gas pipe to go horizontal straight to the boiler. The pipe is sleeved and also has been sealed with a putty just like the service / supply pipe like he is saying a correct repair would be a new meter box and the pipe taken out from the bottom and in through the wall as to stop gas entering the cavity. My point is the old boiler gas pipe took that same route and was in the house when i moved in over 20 years ago. In that time it has been serviced by British Gas and no mention of it being a problem. The new boiler was signed of all ok for building regs and since the new boiler has been fitted Cadent have been out to fit a new meter pipe and been in the box to do that and again nothing mentioned. I am really unsure where i stand with this as the engineer who serviced the boiler said it will be a big job to sort that out so i am not turning the gas off and put on the form gas turn off refused, any help on this would be appreciated. As i say its been like that 23 years since i have been in the house. also is that part of a boiler service as he also checked my smoke alarms and carbon monoxide sensor and the paperwork he has given me along with his boiler service invoice look to be for landlords gas safety check and he did tell me he had to phone someone to check if this would be classed as at risk before he made his decision.
