I did the Atag training course yesterday on their A series boilers. Very informative course and IMHO it's well worth looking at their boilers. They seem very well put together and designed for easy maintenance. The only drawback is their size and looks. They are fecking massive and ugly so it's doubtful Mrs Jones would want one in her kitchen. For an airing cupboard install, utility, loft, garage etc. they're great. Built in frost protection, weather comp ready (just needs external sensor at around £20).

A real eye opener for me was their attitude to flues, they don't care what flue you use as long as it is the right size and suitable for condensing boilers. If you find yourself short of an extension just go to the merchants and get any 60/100 extension was one of their comments. This means that the boilers are type approved for fitting to a lot of different proprietary flue systems.

Other things that impressed me were breakdown cover. Atag don't have breakdown engineers, they pass calls back to the original engineer (as long as you record the boiler) or another local Atag installer and pay you for it. No chances of them nicking your customers.

They also refused to let British Gas list their boiler so BG won't cover it. This is because they don't use ratios for checking condition and insist on a four yearly strip and clean which BG refuse to do.

I'm fitting my first one later this week. A 325C combi with weather comp and a BrainZ controller. I'll find out if they are as good as they sound.

Not sure about the fact they dont have any breakdown engineers!

Will be interested to hear how your first Atag combi goes tho...
