I am trying to balance my radiators and having a little difficalty? I am aware of how to do this ( 12 deg cent between inlet and outlet) but I have discovered two radiators have the TRV's on the outlet. Does this make any difference to the method of balancing as I'm struggling to get the 12 deg difference. I also have a narrow 300mm wide radiator which I can't get 12 deg. Could this be due to the fact that the inlet and outlet are so close together?

thanks :):)

Remove the TRV heads first then balance the system then re-apply the heads, :)

Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow.

Hi,

tried to balance radiators this afternoon again and still having problems I think? Is it OK to have the lockshield open only a quarter turn to get the 12 degrees difference ? If all my radiators are only open this, will it put a strain on the boiler pump (Vaillant Ecotec 831 combi) ? Does the type of lockshield make a difference? ie does one turn openon my Danfos allow the same flow as one turn on a Myson ?

:) :)

Yes, and open even less if necessary.

No.

Each brand of valve is different.

Thanks for the info, That link for balancing was a lot more detailed than the one I had been using.

15-20 degrees drop needed for a condensing boiler, the return should be 55 degrees (dew point) for it to run most efficiently.

I am using the Vaillant VRC 430 weather compensator. This alters the flow temp relative to the outside weather, so will I be able to get the temp difference in the boiler flow and return?

The thing to remember with weather comp is that the radiators wont allways be "red hot" when the system is on, but the internal temp of the house will be to the preset temp.
weather comp is the way forward.:)

Thanks for the helpful advice. I will try and balance my radiotors on my next day off work.
