Hi all
Help requuired as follows.............

Bathroom installed 5 years ago upstairs in 3 bed semi
Hudson Reed ( ultra ) Helix bath filler fitted with no shower attachment
Combi boiler in garage installed 6 years ago ( Ferroli ) not sure of model

Everything has been running well until one day pre Christmas when the hot water tap would not turn off and left a small dribble of water comming through the filler. After a short period of time this created a large banging noise throughout the whole hot water system.

I closed hot water supply down at the boiler and sent off for new cartridges from supplier ..................

Once fitted the problem is still their and will not go away ..........they have now sent me out 3 different sets of cartridges and all of them seem to create a problem. A few weeks ago they sent me a set out with a larger knurl on the top and it worked well but was cold and meant I had to turn the tap off with pliers and turn it the wrong way.
I fitted some in at the weekend and it left a small drip on the tap. Now when I turn the cold on anywhere in the house or flush the toilet more hot water starts coming out of the hot water tap ( is this normal) I am running out of patience !!!

They are going to send me a new tap out ( yippee ) only problem is that the whole bath will have to come out as the taps are on the opposite side and impossible to get too -------- our lasses best italian tiles ( and mosaics ) are going to come flying off the bath cover !!!!!!!!!!!

Can anyone help ........tap manufacturer thinks their may be a hair line crack in the casing !!! Surely not ?!?!

Are you sure tap causing banging, when banging starts can you stop by opening tap, seating could be damaged or some of the original broken cartridge in it,pressure of water could open disc if loose,I have never come across such banging when tap closed, even when dripping, are they normal 3/4 threads that disc screws into ,if so fit normal washer cartridge for how and see what happens, can see cracked tap body causing dribble but not banging, maybe something else happen else were on system at same time as tap problem, what model of ferolli is it,if older type, could be gas valve not closing fully and banging coming from there as over heating,in that case when you open tap in would stop for a while

Hi Puddle
Thanks for the reply, yes sure tap is causing banging due to the fact that if the tap is not dripping or running nothing bangs. When banging starts I can stop by opening tap and letting flow through, when I close it off it sometimes keeps banging and sometimes it stops. Taps are normal 3/4 with ceramic cartridges Not sure what model boiler but was installed about 4 years ago .............
Spent 3 hours swapping discs between housings and and re sitting in tap last night and eventually got one to sit and close off !! my fingers are crossed at the moment that it does not start to leak and bang ( the past ones have !!

One whole day .....24 hours .....not a drip or a leak or a bang to be heard !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂🙂🙂

How long will it last this time 😕
