Bath waste pipe install?

I’ve removed a shower tray & have installed a bath. I’ve got the trap ready to go on but how do I go about connecting pipework up to this? Obviously I will unscrew that old shower waste off.

You could use a mechanical 40mm elbow

What if took off the flexible pipe & solvent welded an elbow to the grey pipe then another pipe onto that then another elbow facing slightly up (so towards the bath base) then I can have a pipe coming down straight onto that?

Yes you can solvent weld an elbow on just make sure the pipe is clean no cement etc
