Hello, I hope someone can help.

My plumbing knowledge is next to zero so please bare with me. We had a new bathroom sink and taps installed about 18 months ago and all seemed fine. However, a few weeks back the water pressure on the hot tap started to reduce over the course of a few days until nothing came out when the tap was turned. However, a few days later it started working again for a couple of days and then it completely died and hasn't worked since.

Now the cold water pressure has started to slightly dwindle - not by much at all but definitely noticeable.

Before calling a plumber in, is there anything I can do or check without flooding my entire house?

Thanks in advance.

have a look under the sink at the pipes to see if you have non return valves fitted. if so they may be stuck and will require replacing. or could be flexi hoses to the taps collapsed or creased. in essence could be anything, maybe the aerator on the tap is blocked with debris.

does the tap have isolating valves? close these check that the taps are off, then you can work on the tap without flooding anywhere
what type of heating and hot water set up do you have?
