baxi back boiler fire

serviced a back boiler and the fire got me puzzled for ages thought i had a gas leak - it must have been an old fire it had a permenant weep pilot once lit it stayed on no safety device to cut it out any one seen these before - for the moment i have isolated the fire untill i get intouch with baxi

there quite common seen loads relight it and back to normal i assume its a massive wood effect g plan fire?

yes,quite big you turn a brass screw on the RH side of the fire to knock off the pilot light

yeah i have serviced these before test it with pilot isolated then check for leaks on pilot assembly and tubes for leaks after

There are still a few permanent pilot fires (and cookers) around so learn how to test them.

i think weve all done that at least once so rare now it comes as a suprise the one i used to hate was gas fridges that were lit by putting the plate with a hole over the flue then waiting for enough gas to rise up the tube to ignight it
