i have been back to this fire three times and each time the spark generator has failed,in my experience the spark generators do fail but there a robust bit of kit and this should not be happening, all electric checks ok,so at a bit of a loss, has anyone come across this before.

check for reversed polarity or trapped/knackered cables

Is that the long White rectangular resistor?
I think it was for the fake flame effect lights.
if its the white ceramic square thing its a suppressor not a resister its to stop the fire interfering with tv,s/radios etc that was a bit of a issue on equipment back then

it's a resistor in my book, would the said resistor(suppressor)effect the spark generator....?

I think the resistor is linked to the bulbs and should have no bearing on your issue to do with ignition I should not think. Although I am not a spark.
