called to this old unit, no main burner, changed T/C and cleaned pilot tube and injector. Now cutting out after 10 mins. Gas Valve drops out. Checked stats etc all working fine. i suspect Gas valve but anyone on here have any other ideas, customer has very little money so its a bit of a favour job.

could be the gas valve or pilot lift re look at the pilot size and pilot injector

will do GM, why would the valve drop out after a few mins. pilot looks good and checked position.

have you checked its not leaking ive had these drip onto the pilot when hotdid you check flue flow if unit is sooted theyll shut down due to starvation watch flame picture

did all the checks, going back in morning to check again

checked all again, stripped out gas valve and found debris in main port, reconnected all ok, did fit another t/c just in case. anyone use one of those t/c testers if so are they worth the money.

You just need a multimeter to test t/c's, I work on 25millivolts & above is good.

disconnect tc at the gas valve one probe on the outside of the thermocouple a croc clip is best, light pilot and hold button down give it 20 seconds ,then put the the other probe on the center of tc you should get a millivolt reading
i think the minimum is 12 mv but id go with aggis nearer 20 to be sure if you want a tester you can often screw the mag valve out of some gasvalves and use it to test
