Hi we have a Baxi Bermuda Inset 2 back boiler.
It started to leak gas, so it has been shut off by transco, they tested the pressure and it is leaking from the boiler.
We shut the boiler down, but it still leaked, untill we shut the valve off on the boiler.

My question is: Is this 95% the valve gone, so it not closing. Or could it be the thermocouple not telling the valve to close ?

Does any one have any help they can provide, as i want to understand before calling an engineer out to start taking it apart.

Many thanks

Marcus

you will need a new valve, probably all of its knackered

Did Transco test it or just identify the boiler as the source , did they isolate the fire from the boiler. Could just be a joint. Easy for a Gas Safe engineer to identify source with fire removed

possibly union after isolation valve,or gas valve not shutting off.t/c lead not problem.

Thanks guys for your quick replies.
The engineer could not get the valve to just isolate the boiler, he tested for leaks with a meter and i think he said gase was coming from the burner still, even when all turned off. If the t/c has gone would it just not light or fire up ? As it has been working fine, right up to we turned it all off.

So i will get the engineer to check the joints before replacing the valve, when i can get hold of an engineer, they are so busy at the mo.

Difficult times: No way round this; leaking gas? could be gas valve? get engineer in. Long term you need to be looking at updating installation. current boiler is in efficient and past its sell by date.
