Hi all,

after some advice or pointers from you on trying to obtain a new valve handle.

I have a baxi instant 105e, that is running very well. I recently drained the system down to remove some radiators for plastering work and also to install a trappex centramag on the return line to the boiler. When i went to isolate the flow and return from the boiler (so i could add pressure to boiler for hot water) the flow valve from the boiler had not isolated. On closer inspection, the plastic valve handle has worn inside and does not grip the flats on the valve spindle. So i used a set of pliers and turned the valve 90 degrees to isolate.

I am trying to find a new valve handle for the valve, but all i can find are complete valves for around £30-35.

Can anyone suggest where to get just a handle or another suitable alternative so i dont have to keep a set of pliers handy or do i have to pay £30 for a handle!!
Thanks,
Roseyp

How often are expecting to turn the valves?

You shouldn't really need to very often and when you do you'll probably have tools out anyway.

You'll probably find they start leaking too, if you use them too much.

ANZ, yeah i agree, but 2 years ago we had a leak on the boiler while i was out and when the Mrs phoned me I was able to talk her through isolating the boiler and stopping the heating system emptying all over the utility room !!

Dont think i could this with "go to the garage and get.........!!"

I know its a long shot but thought I would try and ask if you guys had any other ideas on where to source one or if an alternative handle would fit

does it look anything like this?

Thanks Again to everyone for all your help

I think King55 is still trying to work out if it is worth sending it to you. You should never have mentioned payment to him? He was going to send it to you for FREE. Now he is busy considering how much he should charge you for it.

not everything is about money!
i couldn't charge you for a pair of handles :)

inbox me your address and i'll send them over :)

hopefully you won't need to isolate the boiler often, they are a poor design and will leak eventually. i recently had to remove one and replace with an isolation valve, pipe and fittings from the van (was late and shops were shut), it's tempting to close valves on boilers so your don't have to drain the entire system, but you can open a can of worms if they leak after.
and while I'm ranting, not this boiler but what's the point of isolation valves on a boiler with no drain point...
