Hello, I have a bit of a temporary patch to do on my Baxi FS601. at the moment its a 1 pipe system but I am re-plumbing it with all new pipework throughout the house to a 2 pipe system, and once all the pipes and rads are in I'm haveing a new boiler and an unvented tank.

I have bypassed the upstairs circuit to repipe everything and now that its all done I want to re connect the boiler to the new pipework and bypass down stairs to repipe downstairs. Its may seem a bit convoluted but i didn't want to rid us completely of heat in January.

Question; Back of the baxi there is 2 flows and 1 return, 1st flow goes to HW Cylinder, 2nd Flow goes to 1 pipe CH system. And they both return through the same pipe. I don't know if this is normal etc, but for my purposes I want to blank off the flow for the heating system. Will this cause me any problems? Do both flows have to be open?

I can't think of any reason why, but who knows?

yes it will cause you problems at best you will have no heating, the other thing you may do is cut of the hot water, and vent and cold feed best to wait untill you get a new boiler

What i was thinking is that it has worked fine for years with the return for the heating just T-ed into the return for the HW circuit. If I just T the Flow for the heating into the Flow for the HW circuit it should work as well. Maube not super efficient but I will have hot water and heating? The only question being if I cap the other flow at the boiler will it just force all the HW through the remianing open flow pipe, or is there some other point which I have missed?

no! refer you to the previous post,no offence mate but if you are unsure of what your doing DONT DO IT you can easily turn the boiler into a bomb it has 2 flows for a reason

Fair point, well made.
I don't think my misses would be chuffed if the house got put in orbit.
