guys
not sure if this is the correct forum for this question but here goes. I am redoing a small wc and adjasent bathroom into one large bathroom with a matki walkin shower, a bath, wc and basin. It is in a 1950s detatched house and currently is indirect with cold water tank in loft. reasonably good pressure and flow. There is one other wc, no other baths or showers.
The customer is interested in having an unvented cylinder fitted. this is obviously quite expensive but would it be worthwhile or should I advise him not to bother and maybe just fit a pump for the shower (if needed)

thanks

id fit the pump if necessary more repeat work changing it every 5 years

its only really cost effective if you have a number of outlets. it is a benefit to any system because of the added pressure, but you only really need to consider it if you have say 3 bathrooms or more

Benefits are...

Equal hot and cold pressure

location of cylinder

no need for cws tank

unvented is the future

you do need an unvented ticket though and bear in mind the prv should be run to outside.

once again thanks to all for advice. i am hoping customer decides to go with it. I have my unvented ticket but its all very well having bits of paper its experience thats needed
cheers

If you're newly qualified on unventeed, don't forget it is notifiable under the Building Regs.

thanks whpes, I know that it is notifiable but havent a clue how to do notification so any pointers would be appreciated
cheers

You either do it through Building Control or join a competent persons notification scheme such as run by OFTEC. If you are going to be doing a few of them, the latter is the best bet. Alternatively you can get someone who is registered to complete it and sign it off for you.
