sorry should of said they want a combi they have a ravenheat combi in

they dont want me to rip the the flooring up,, looks like they are going to have to ill have to talk them round some people do my head in

they dont want you to rip up the floor? offer to run it round the skirting and see what they say?

Either replace the gas pipe or end up with years of misery when they cant get enough hot water. Sounds like a no brainer to me. but if they insist, Vaillant Ecotec

whether the customer "insists" or not you can not fit a new appliance to an undersized supply.

If you are not going to size the pipe correctly or upgrade it as required why bother what size gas connection the boiler has. They will all work equally as bad.
Do it right!

I was making the point that they insist he does not rip up their floor. There are combi's out there that can operate on a 15mm supply without it being undersized.

Against regs to fit a gas appliance NCS

Customers don't write the regs, if they want it upgrading or not doesn't really come onto it. It's hot to be done, explain the different routes, point out your preferred one and do it right.

Next bloke that comes round after you and it's running at 12mbar and rings GSR you're in trouble mate.

Any combi will work correctly on 15mm provided the pipe is sized correctly.
A 24kw boiler, regardless of who makes it, requires around 2.5m3/hr. A 15mm pipe can only deliver that amount of gas within limits over around 3.5m. That is without taking into account elbows and the drop in pressure up to that point of the 15mm or other appliances.
Size the pipe properly. It is your name on the job.

I do already. The jobs got nothing to do with me, I was only answering the OP.

I know you were.

It was for the people who think because a boiler has a 15mm gas connection that using an existing 15mm is fine.

ive told them it needs 22mm gas line from meter to boiler its going to be runing about 5m at the most i can see 22mm from the meter to under the floor so they have said ok as long as i put everything back as it was lol

Slightly digressing but came across this senario only this week on a landlord check. 6" 22mm off meter to a NO 27 then one run to cooker of approx 7m all in 15mm + bends etc, other run in 15MM to 28kw boiler approx 15m plus elbows etc. Boiler running at 13mb when checked, so AR it. Landlord went ballistic when told by the letting agent and demanded to know why there would be a charge for my findings / gas certificate. I gave him a price for upgading the pipe work, to be told he would get his 'plumber / gas fitter ' to sort it ( Same guy who had fit his relatively new boiler previously). Then get a phone call from this muppet fitter asking me what' s wrong with it !!!!. You can imagine my reply ************* !

Its so scary at times, before even putting a test on it you would know / suspect that it was likely to be low as the pipe work was nearly all on view. As i've said before, when will these landlords learn.
