Where is the best place on an open vented system to fit one?

The Adeysolutions.com website has a good diagram in the installation guide. Best place is just before the boiler in the return. Acceptable is in the flow after the pump and before the first radiator. Don't put in the flow before the feed and vent.

The compression fittings have a habit of leaking. I do the compression nuts up reasonably tight, take them off again, put a couple of wraps of PTFE around the olives, then do them up tight.

Not what you asked ,but you can sometimes pick them up £60-70 on ebay.A good saving.

Any comments on the new fernox unit,seems ok but not getting same press as the magnaclean

I was looking at the fernox ones today. guy in the shop said he had to stock up on them cos they were flying off the shelves. to be honest the look very similar. one thing i noticed though was that they has a draining point on the them. could come in handy.
