Best way to drill a hole in a cast iron soil pipe.

Can anyone tell me what is the best way to drill a hole in a soil stack. What drill would be best.Its external. Thanks.

A metal holesaw and be very careful!

Last time I had to do it it was low down for a shower. I held an off cut of ply up against the house, resting on the floor , and cut through this first to use as a guide for the hole saw. Made it safer/easier and means you don’t need the pilot drill in your hole saw.

Can use bi-metal holesaw and frequent squirts of WD40 or similar to lubricate.

from memory its not really lubricant as cast iron itself lubricates due to having carbon its really to stop the saw overheating

It's quite soft so hole-saw as above. Won't take a minute. Don't let the cut piece fall down the pipe.
