Hi guys we had a new Worcester 30si boiler fitted about 9 months ago....the stat on the boiler front panal I normally leave set to about 4,

Our heating engineer called today to check a prop we had and commented that we should have the boiler stat control...the one on the boiler panel set to full all the time I think that setting is 7,

Im not convinced....what do you guys recommend as the best way to set the heating up....we have a radio type room stat that I set for around 23c and we have one TRV and thats in the main bed room...the radio stat is in the living room....so do I set the boiler stat to max all the time....I also find this make the tap water to hot even thought the tap water control on the boiler is at min.

Nick.

set the temp so max output temp is around 70, any higher is a waste and not needed and costly

full is a good idea to save fuel more efficient heat up. stat in living room? normally hall or landing as normally cooler hence warmer in living room

If you can set it to around 55-60 it will condense better and be more efficient.

It will condense more (be cheaper to run) if you can keep it set to about 4 or slightly lower.
The higher the setting the greater the output from the rads.
If you have no problems heating the house set at 4 then leave it. If on the really cold days it struggles, turn it up a bit then back down when the weather improves.
If turned higher, your water will be hotter initially when you open a tap as it is using the warmer water (around 82ºC) inside the boiler. It will settle as you draw some through.

rads work best at around 70 so heating the system higher is wasteful, apart fm that modern boilers will modulate down quickly as well to save fuel, if you have oversized rads then 60 is better as the boiler will condense for longer and be more efficient, as mentioned by bd.and tamz (doh) not sure how you assume a cold hall gives you a warmer living room yy, it all depends on your set ups in the end
