Good morning.I'm plumbing in an old Belfast Sink and I'm trying to use some cheap Screwfix bib taps however when tightened fully to the wall plate elbows the taps are not vertical or if they are the pipe connection to the rising supply isn't. Is it just a case of packing the thread with PTFE or hemp or am I missing something obvious? Thanks in advance.Bob

Yes pack it out with ptfe... May take a few attempts until ot finishe upright & has enough to make the seal.

Thanks for the replies. I was just expecting there to be a more 'engineered' answer than wedging a load of tape in the thread! Oh well, it won't look brilliant but as long as it works I'll be happy.

Shim washers work too, but PTFE as already suggested would be my weapon of choice.

Don't over engineer it simple simple

I use loctite 55 on the threads. Miles better than ptfe because if you finish up slightly wonky you can turn it back without it leaking

Not legal to use hemp on potable water supplies, if I recall correctly.

Unsure. Normally fix tap to worktop or have the tap direct to wingback? Upload a picture?
