is it just me or are these big companies making it extremely difficult for small companies to make a living!!!!!!

imho its a bit of both , firstly if you follow them on a quote for an install its great , secondly for repairs they can just keep chucking parts at it till it works and lastly they offer payment plans no many small firms do

Yes they are. If it is not boiler companies poaching our customers, its the AA, homeserve and others.

But this was always the way the service industry was planned. Self employed people competing for minimum wage jobs, while big companies focus on owner-occupiers who have lost trust in trades.

While this is going on, small businesses are paying the wages of accountants, bankers, awarding bodies, colleges, etc. This is what 'enterprise culture' means.

But, where there is power there is resistance and expect many small businesses to stop paying into the gas-safe scam, along with other training scams.

Its time for survival

Small companies make it extremely difficult for other small companies to make a living. Sad fact but we live in a gimme gimme society where everyone is out to shaft each other. If we all had more co-operation then this industry would have a tremendous level of support instead of it being on its knees.
