Evening all,
I ve had a strange call from a new customer today. He says the cold water from the bath tap, bathroom basin and shower is coming out black. Also has a slimy texture. He also says the toilet cistern is full of black water. He s checked the cold water storage tank and says it's clean, suspected something had got in there and died. He has storage heaters so no issues with the heating. From what he describes he has economy seven direct cylinder. I'm going to see it tomorrow afternoon, has anyone else come across anything similar?

Unlagged tank, no lid, no cross flow because ball valve and take offs on the same side of the tank, stagnation through lack of use.

As RM said, deep clean through to the outlets, lag the tank and ensure wras kit is fitted.

And show the guy how to drain down when the house is unoccupied for long periods.
