This question is really for the experts on electrical forum, but thought I'd mention it here. Today, I looked at a Redring 9.5kw expressions shower that stopped working a few weeks ago. The owner said it sometimes pulses. He surprised me then by saying it does this when his wife uses a hand blender in the kitchen! Then he shouted downstairs to ask her to turn blender on & off. I could hear blender starting & stopping & the shower head started shaking & water coming out of it, every time blender started. Apparently same happens Mira shower in en suite. Anyone ever seen or heard of this before? Obviously, shower will have it's own heavy cable, so not on same wiring as blender in kitchen. Am told it could be a loose neutral in consumer unit, but think job for a spark friend.

To be honest, I couldn't help laughing. I did tell him it was serious though! :laugh3: I wouldn't have thought that possible, only I saw it myself!

In the early 1990's when my mum had a conventional system, the doorbell would ring when the heating came on in the evening, it just started happening and went on for a couple of months then stopped. not got a clue how it happened as the heating wiring was no where near the doorbell and the doorbell was battery operated!

I'd be thinking this way too. Got to be a wiring issue and I've seen enough to learn that not all houses are wired conventionally.

Plenty of DIYers digging into a wall, seeing a wire they want to use, turning off all the house's electricity, string up some sort of spur cos that's what they saw an electrician do, turn on, then their new stuff works fine.

Gone slightly off topic but there are good reasons why we have plumbers, electricians, etc.

Am going to take a look at wiring, but think I will let spark I know do any of the work & test all. Tempting just to tighten all connections in meter board, but that then makes me responsible. I have been told , slack neutral wire can cause problems.
