Hi Friends

This is the 3rd time I've had a problem unblocking a kitchen sink.

It's in a 1st floor flat, the tenant has used one shot & nothing moved.

I've undone the under pipes etc. & all clear.

I've put a drain unblock wire down, nothing comes out, still blocked.

Knocked on other flats, no blockages.

Any thoughts? I had this twice last year & failed then!!

Cheers

get Dyno Rod in. They will have an idea. You probably haven't got all the right tools for the job

Is it just the kitchen sink in the whole place that is blocked?
Has it got one main stack for the whole place?

If it's just the one run blocked how far can you see the kitchen waste pipe, it might be worth cutting it at sections or if its push fit pulling it apart.

If it's a cast iron stack they quite often scale over the connection point and only something mechanical will shift it.

As above, if it's cast I'd bet that you have a partial blockage at the 1"1/2 spigot into the 4" soil.

Wet vac the balls off it. Or get to stack and wop a drain rod at it

Get some balls. Not going to learn FRECK all passing on jobs. Do it , know the cause . If it pays well so it again if not sub it out.

Tip, don't take the kitchen sink trap off and empty it down the sink.
resist the urge.

if its in a block of flats with a "communal" soil pipe, is it possible that an anti siphon trap has been fitted to the sink and that has stopped opening up, thus causing the waste to airlock itself. justa thought from a job i had many moons ago.

Or run the tap to wash your hands!

I've done that before!!!

Once bitten.

Going to this one later. She's put more one shot down but still blocked.

Not sure what I can do. See what happens.

I'll report back & ask for further thoughts maybe.

I'll do the job, no mention if me subbing it out.

I'll do my best!

wear gloves/goggles if its full of one shot or you'll look like a sunburned pig, caustic really does remove the skin other cleansers cant :)

Thx.

Just sorted it.

Gloved up, as sink black with one shot!!

Took waste apart, all clear, put together, ran water, blocked, plunged the bugger, get presto, fixed (although the over flow has 2 holes in it!!)

Need to return to replace over flow (oh dear oh dear)!!!

So, less than 30 mins door to door.

How much would you charge?
