I have 5 of 13 cold radiators in my house. A British Gas engineer came to check the water tank in the loft and said there was no water. He said not to bleed the radiators as no water could reach the boiler pipes and it would cut off, and his notes were "Backfield system as cold feed blocked. Temp repair - power flush + repipe required + new pump."
After 2 weeks I checked the tank in the loft and saw that there was plenty of water, so I bled the radiators. Heat came back to the radiators evenly after I bled them, but when I reached the 5th radiator the boiler cut off. Even after bleeding the water tank in the loft was still full of water.
I left the boiler to cool for 10 minutes. Then after I reset it and it came alight again. However, after 2 minutes, I heard a horrible noise that sounded like explosions and then the boiler cut off again. I then switched off the mains.
The same engineer returned and insisted on a power flush. He said water could not pass through the pipes of the boiler so it overheated. I have already had a power flush 4 years ago.
What repairs would you recommend I get? Do I need another power flush and will it sort out my problem?
Thank you in advance.
