I have an oil fired condensing boiler which was purchased new about 4 years ago and made by an Irish company called Gerkros which has now folded !! Upto now the boiler has worked fine, despite running out of oil on a couple of occasions last winter !! Now, the boiler has stopped working...Ive checked the fuel in the tank and would guess I have about 200 litres left which is still above the outlet level. The tiger loop chamber is empty which of course shouldnt be and therefore leads me to believe the problem is the boiler not drawing fuel. Over the past few weeks the boiler has not sounded like it normally does .... would this suggest the pump has stopped working ??

I would'nt dream of carrying out any DIY work and intend to get a professional out, I just wanted some thoughts and advice regarding the pump situation. Will it be a standard pump for a boiler and if so any ideas on the replacement cost and any internet companies who sell them ??

Thanks in anticipation.

price depends on the pump , don't know this boiler so cant comment on pump needed. let your engineer buy the pump and youll know it works, I sell mine cheaper than most on ebay!

I think you will find it is a riello rdb burner on this one an engineer will have to check pump with a pressure gauge, if you are lucky it might be the drive coupling has gone

I see a few Gerkros boilers in Ireland, councils were buying Kabinpaks called The Gerkros Cosyman. They all have Riello burners in, so I would say that Kimbo is right, with the RDB assumption.
If you have run out of oil a couple of times, you could have pulled water through the oil line to the pump, especially if you lifted the end of the tank to get the last of the oil out of the tank. If that's the case I would be prepared to have to pay for a new pump, sorry.
