Hi all,
A friend of mine gave me his gas boiler (24KW logic ideal) after only 1 year of use and it has since been sitting idle in storage for 2.5 years. I recently contacted a plumber to arrange having my current old boiler swapped with the boiler that has been in storage. The plumber warned me that this was a huge risk as dirt might have gotten into the boiler since it has been idle and it may not function after he installs it, despite his best efforts. he then proceeded to try and sell me a boiler.
I am concerned that he might have been overexaggerating the risk so that he can make a sale. The boiler was stored in an unused, unheated guest house, sitting on it's side on a table for the last 2.5 years. The space is clean but as with any unused space, dust has collected. I never thought of covering over any openings so dust/dirt could certainly have gotten into it.
Has anyone any experience/knowledge about this? Have I wasted a good boiler or is it worth taking a risk, having it fitted and certified and hope that it works?
Thanks in advance.
