ANDY BURNS

Hi guys, just wondering if it's still possible to fit boilers in lofts as customer I'm seeing this week has that in mind. Is it still possible and are there any reg's involved that I should know about ????
Any help/advice will be greatly received.
Cheers
Andy

Many many thanks MC_Bob, great to know I can ask a question without fear of just being ridiculed as some sites do and again cheers mate :)
Warmest regards
Andy

to comply with regs you need flooring up to the boiler a light and a ladder but ive recently read the ladder doesnt need to be fixed but i would check that
mi;s will need a frost stat to be fitted and insulation on pipe work as its an unheated space
for ease of use for the customer you should fit a fill point and gauge and all controls not in the loft
hardest part now is often getting the condense pipe and blow out out properly plus remember you have to get the gas up there is never a cheap option but it does free up space especially if the cylinder goes up as well or you fit a combi instead of a conventional system

Many thanks Steve, think it's just a combi replacement.
Roger that "fill point' gauge & controls" PRV can return against wall due to not used walk way between next door and condensate pipe can be upped on same wall down to waste !!

I like moving boilers to loft. There has to be a new gas run so customer doesn't question sizing up to 28mm. Always a soil pipe vent coming through for condense. Customer doesn't bother you. Nice flat wall etc etc.

Boilers in the loft, pfft.
A total pita when they go wrong and don't forget all the wasted time accessing the boiler which adds to the labour cost.

I agree with mc Bob, lofts are great, lots of space to work with and customer doesn't look over your shoulder. Have seen some pretty dodgy ones recently - condense poking through tiles straight into gutter!

I am sure I read somewhere there needs to be a hand rail arround the loft. Hatch too??
