Borehole filter advice

A friend of mine wants a reasonably priced filtration system fitted on their borehole water supply, she lives in a mobile home, she says she has never drank from the cold water taps and doesn't intend to so it will be more of a sediment filter, any recommendations or advice? The information a have here is all I have so far.

If it was my supply from a borehole I would not really bother cleaning the water up too much. for every 220 litres you use only per person say 4 ltre for cooking and drinking
get this water from aldi in bottlrs etc put non potable water from the system you design thro the bog etc. bringing fiktered water up,to potable is often not worth it ..in my opinion..depends if you live in a remote area then have to go at it full time or
if you live near a waitrose ...their water iscace and .their green colour matches my
range rover

Ok interesting, I'll ask her why she wants it filtered, I think it may just be a bit murky.

Surprised it wasnt part of the borehole system. Seen boreholes done incorrectly that allow surface water into them during heavy rains.

If she has an immersion and it gets the water up past 60c then thats probably job done , or you could look into a reverse osmosis unit fits under sink

You mean to prevent legionnares and kill off most bacteria? She seems to want to remove sediment, so I guess a filter is still worth a try? Or reverse osmosis unit yes.

I did some work on an old cottage. Water supply pumped from stream up to a 2500 litre tank. With triple filter and bio filter. Then farmer down the road told me to not let them drink the water. Tractors washed all the Rubbish off them just above where the water is taken from.

The filters don't half have a massive effect on the pressure.

They now get Northumbrian Water to fill the tank on a regular basis.

I've told them to dig a pit high up the hillside, line it an let one of the springs fill it and then run a main down the hill.

yes a simple sediment filter is a start but a small domestic reverse osmo unit might be worth considering, watch out tho, there are plenty of American ones at sensible prices ..but their lecky is not same as ours ...you can get enough water out of one of these to well satisfy in my opinion. There is plenty of info in these magazines regarding preparing water. Aquarius Plumbing Innovations

If she's never sent the water away for analysis she could be endangering herself. I have a few clients with bore hole systems and we regularly schedule a water sample to a local lab to check for all sorts of nasties, bugs, heavy metals, etc. Things that a sediment filter wouldn't make the blindest bit of difference to. All my clients do drink their water though.
