Hi

I have a Bristan shower which is leaking from the cold feed as it enters the thermostatic surface mounted rigid riser. It is continuously dripping and started leaking when my megaflo played up last week

I have a Valliant ecotec boiler and a megaflo tank. About 18 mths old. Last Thurs water was running from the tungsten so I followed the steps to replenish the air gap. Megaflo seems ok now but I cannot stop the leak in the shower. There are no bolts to tighten where the chrome pipe enters the thermostat surface mounted rigid riser

I would really appreciate your thoughts on the cause and what to do??

Thanks a lot

Caroline

Hi Bettyboo

looks like it's the O ring that's leaking, call Bristan technical and they will send you out a replacement o ring pack,

to get to the o ring it looks like you will need to take shower off if wall by loosening nuts on feed and you will need an Alan key to take off the elbows and replace o rings. manufacturer might supply Alan key if not ask them the sizes you will need.

Also need to find out what water pressure you have as it can affect the seals in the shower had this with a Mira unit and had to fit pressure reducing valve to shower

Thank you guys, I am just wondering if I should look to reduce pressure on boiler first before looking to change shower o rings ? Would Bristan advise what the water pressure should be set at, for the shower, from boiler? The boiler was serviced 2 weeks ago and I am wondering what the heat engineer has done to boiler has caused this to happen to shower and megaflo

It sounds like coincidence as the domestic side of your system pressure shouldn't have changed in 18 months even with the air gap being replenished

Boiler pressure will be fine. Doesn't affect shower. Do not fiddle with the controls on the megaflow as they are set up for the individual cylinder. It is in fact illegal for you to work on an invented cylinder unless you are G3 registered

Iunderstand that if the temperature is set too high on the megaflo it can causethe pressure to be affected and for water to leak through the tungsten, justworried this is what could have happened to cause the shower to also be affected??

please put a tick in the remember me box when you log back in we get confused if unregistered peeps pop up thanks

No one should have touched the temp settings on megaflo with the previous work you described and if the temp is higher than 60 you would have most probably relised at another hot outlet when it isn't blended with cold

and in anycase you leak is on the cold side of valve :) pop on Bristan website and locate the spare o rings there

Hi
Not sure if previous responders are available this evening??
But I am trying to change the o rings of my bristan thermostatic valve....I have got this far... see pic but don't know how to get this bit off.. I realize once a ? washer is removed here I can then access the cartridge.
Any ideas how to remove this section please???
Thanks
Caroline
