Bristan regency shower

I went to fit a new cartridge on a regency thermostatic shower.
The problem is that when I tried to remove cartride it was just turning with a clicking noise (stripped thread).
Anyone had similar problem and did you solve it.

is it a pull out cartridge?

No I don't thinks so. The new cartridge has a thread on it.
