fixter1

Hi I had a call of bg on Friday asking if I wanted to do some installation work for the dose anyone no there rates thanks Marc

Fixed price per job on installation.

its like any sub work they get the money you get a ok price to pay the wages.

Also You don't get paid for 4 weeks from what I can remember

Ok no bother ill see what they have to say when I meet them this week thanks

Going to the one near me on thursday, just to be nosey really.I will report back

for what they charge there customers you would think there prices should be very good, try and get your hands on there subby price per job list.

A little off topic here but is it true that bg engineers just do a FGA and if its ok dont service??? I have heard this from a couple of different sources..

How do they get around not checking the burner pressure, or safety devices?

It is true that a lot only do the FGA, even on standard efficiency boilers, I took a Myson Midas out yesterday, the 'letterbox' opening for the evacuation of combustion products had corroded so badly that it fell apart, only 80% maximum of the 4 sides were in one peice, it is serviced every year by BG, lord knows how they got correct readings, but the customer says they have never been more than 20 minutes on site including the brew!

Who said they don't check burner pressure and safety devices?

thats not true at all.

I have been told many times, by customers, that the boiler cover was not even removed, maybe they gas rated and the customer wouldnt know?

No engineer worth his salt would not remove a boiler cover on a service.

Also I never believe a word a customer says. I've had customers say to me "they never did that last year" and I know full well that they did, because it was me who was there last year :)

It was my gas instructor at college who first told me they just did a FGA. He was ex BG. I have heard similar things from other sources.

I dont intend any tarnishing toward bg just ask if it is true or not...
