Hi guys,

I have got a problem with my hot water, not sure if it is my boiler or taps or what to do!

I have a Britony Combi 80 boiler and have had no problems with the boiler so far. The only problem is with the upstairs bath/shower. I have a bath with has a shower mixer on the taps, and when i use the shower part, even if the cold water is on full, as soon as i turn the hot water tap the water comes out boiling hot, and I have burnt myself a few times doing this.

Is it a problem with the boiler or the tap/mixer? Is there a way to fix this?

If you need any more details feel free to ask,

Cheers

Tried it tonight, when running the taps i can change the temperature and the hot is quite hot, however when i run the cold at the same time it cools down to an ok temperture. If I set the water to the right temperature, as soon as i turn the lever so the water comes out the shower, the hot becomes insanely hot (burning hot) and the cold water doesnt seem to be coming out at all!

i have taps similar to these (no im not advertising the site)

Canterbury Bath Shower Mixer

Any ideas folks?

Thanks

Does sound like a difference in water pressures, cold off tank and hot off mains, turn on cold tap only, can you hold your hand over the spout and stop the flow, if so it is low pressure and you have a problem. If not then the diverter on the taps may be at fault.

Does the cold water flow as fast as the hot through the shower when you run them separately?

Hi,

The hot water runs at a higher pressure when running through the shower.
Its weird, I can get a nice warm run of water through the taps, but as soon as I turn it to the shower it goes insanely hot.

I can only think it is a problem with the tap unit itself, is there anyway to check it/clean it as maybe there is a problem with the mixer bit in it (to change from taps to shower head). I don't really want to take the taps off or put new taps in as have had the bath sealed and it would be a nightmare to sort.

Cheers
