Hi

I'm having a few problems with my Britony Combi SE and was wondering if someone could be kind enough to let me know which part of the boiler may be faulty?

The problems started 6 weeks ago, when the pressure gauge went all the way into the red when the central heating was on. After that happened, I was worried about using the central heating so I turned it off. The hot water still worked but it was not as hot as it used to be, and the system started to lose pressure whenever I used the hot water. There was also a leak coming from the bottom of the boiler. An engineer came out and said they would need to order some parts, and they mentioned something about the valve in the boiler. After they left, I had to top up the boiler several times a day, as whenever I used hot water the pressure would gradually drop and then the boiler would lock out.

The engineer did not retum and after a number of failed attempts to contact them I found someone else who fixed the leak (I think they mentioned something about a corroded air filter), fixed the pressure problem (replaced a faulty part, unblocked a blockage in the system and drained, refilled and repressurised the system).

The leak and the pressure issues are sorted, but I have noticed that there is an issue with the water temperature, which is not as hot as is used to be before all the problems started. The kitchen tap (next to the boiler) seems to be ok, but whenever I have a shower (mixer shower) the water temperature fluctuates from barely hot to cool, then back again. I have turned the thermostat up all the way and it still does not help. When I used to have a bath before, I had to run the hot and cold taps to ensure the bath wasn't too hot, but now I just use the hot tap and the bath water is barely hot, so I can only stay there for 10 mins before I freeze! When running the hot tap for the bath, I have always noticed a fluctuation in the temperature of the water (it is boiling hot for a few minutes, then it goes cool for 20 seconds or so, then boiling hot again - presumably this is just the way the boiler works?) however the bath water was always boiling hot before these problems started.

Can anyone offer any advice please?

Hello and welcome, unfortunately the issues you are having all involve working on the boiler and we are unable to offer advice to non- gas registered posters. You will need to get another GSR engineer in to take a look for you I'm afraid.
