I have just replaced the plug wastes in two sinks with new stainless steel items. The new bolts are metric but I need imperial to link up with the lower part of the waste that is embedded in lead piping.
Removing the lead and using the new lower end of waste is too much of a mission, and the old screws are too short for the new wastes. So what I need is, I reckon, ¼ BSW screws in stainless or brass that are 3 inches long.
Could anyone with a knowledge of historic plumbing – we are talking 50 years old here – tell me if BSW sounds like the right thread, and then where the hell I can get a couple of 3 inch stainless or brass screws from?
Very many thanks
